So, a little bit about me...
My name is Charlotte, I am a 2020 Keele University Law graduate and an Ambassador for London Young Lawyers Group.

I did not begin my journey in life knowing that I wanted to pursue a legal career, in fact I was not the most academic at school. Not because I didn't have the aptitude, but because my career plans did not involve me spending time studying, instead I spent any spare time I had in the dance studio. I left school at 16 to attend a vocational ballet school, where I trained for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. During my training, I became injured and required surgery. I was told I did not have much chance of going on to perform after that.
This is when I discovered law. I began working in an American law firm in London at the age of 19, as a receptionist, and within the 2 years of me being there, I realised that law and ballet had a few things in common, mainly them both being highly analytical, requiring continuous resilience and that I thoroughly enjoyed them both.
Fast forward working at a number of law firms, living in another country, continuing to develop through positions, I ended up applying for university to go and study law. I knew that I wanted to become a solicitor by this point and so returning to education seemed like the obvious route. Hitting a few obstacles in getting there, I accepted a place at Keele and haven't looked back.

Keele has given me so much support and opportunity that I never thought I needed, let alone expected. I can now say I have finished my law degree, having been the President of Keele Law Society, a Representative for the University of Law as well as holding a number of other positions too.
I am excited to get back in to the legal world, as I have missed the grind of living and working in London. I am also looking forward to returning to work, post degree, as I know it will change my work a tremendous amount having the knowledge that I lacked before.
The point of this blog is to give myself an expressive outlet now that I have finished university. A place where I can talk about the legal market and also help others in their journey. I hope you enjoy this space as much as I am! :)
